Real Housewife of New York and her Old Money

Old Money recently made its debut on national television during the most recent season of The Bravo Channel’s Real Housewives of New York.   Alex McCord, wife, mother, author, model and television personality wore an Old Money Faux Fur Cuff and an Old Money triple coin necklace in more than 3 scenes.   Her husband, Simon Van Kempen, has also been spotted wearing an Old Money cuff or two.    Lookin’ good Simon and Alex!

Lady Britannia

Britannia is an ancient name for Great Britain.   Lady Britannia is an allegorical character who is the goddess of war and passion.  She is the personification of Britain.  The coin features her holding the shield and trident which are instruments of war.   But, because of her great strength, she is shown at peace -seated and looking out to sea.

Winged Liberty Head, or “Mercury” Dime

The front of the coin depicts the mythological goddess Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap, symbolizing liberty and freedom. The wings represent freedom of thought. The dime was issued from 1916-1945. It’s composition is 90% Silver, 10% Copper.
